Before you pop the Question
Talk, Talk, Talk! - Talk to each other!
Discuss the idea of living together, getting engaged and extend the conversation towards Marriage and spending the rest of your lives together. This will give you a good indication of her response and you will both have a good idea of each other’s intentions. You really can’t talk too much!
If you are planning a surprise proposal, there are a few things to bear in mind:
- Ascertain whether she has a preference for gold, white gold or platinum. Does she have a favorite precious stone, or is she a traditional Solitaire girl? Don’t spend a fortune unless you are sure. After all she will be wearing this ring for the rest of her life! If in any doubt buy an imitation ring for the Proposal and book a date to take her out and choose together.
- It’s a very good idea to ask the permission of her Parents. It’s traditional and often assures mutual respect.
- Plan your Proposal carefully, take your time – it really will be worth the effort involved. Have Fun!
- What if she says no?
- It’s ok to be disappointed and embarrassed. It may be that she is not ready, or that maybe you are not meant to be engaged or married.
- But remember – There is someone for everyone!
Good Luck!
